Our Story

Mina & Tara

Mina and Tara met while working at the same company in 2015. Shortly after meeting they realized they had a lot in common and quickly became friends. Both were real estate investors, had rental properties and a shared love of Galveston. Shortly after deciding they wanted to go in together on a larger vacation home in Galveston, they found what would end up being Wright By The Sea, and fell in love with its uniqueness and charm – and the rest is history!

About Tara

As a Canadian, I grew up spending summers camping in the mountains or at the amazing lakes in British Columbia and Alberta – and winters skating, skiing and snowmobiling. I relocated from Calgary, Alberta to Houston for work in 2015 and discovered Galveston shortly after moving. It has been so great being an hours drive from the 4th largest city in the US to a relaxing island in the Gulf of Mexico!

During COVID I felt confined to my home and wanted to find a way to enjoy the occasional weekend away with my two dogs and thought what a better place than Galveston! I ended up buying my first property in Jamaica Beach. And then, almost three years later, I bought a small renovated 1955 home and moved to Galveston full time!

About Mina

As a native Houstonian who loved the sun, the ocean and the outdoors, I grew up spending weekends and vacations in Galveston and on the Texas coast until I went to California for college.  After returning to Houston as a young adult and working in the legal profession, I eventually found my way back to Galveston as a vacation property rental host, and I have really loved the ability to give my guests an experience beyond their expectations.

I am so proud to be a co-owner of this unique historical property three blocks from the beach in central Galveston where large groups, families and friends can gather together comfortably so they too can have their own exceptional Galveston experience.

Review

My family and I travel to Galveston once a year for the past 6 years. We are a big group and this is by far the most comfortable home we have stayed in. There is plenty of room for everyone and we love that there a separate “apartments” within the home for each family to have some privacy as well. Would 100% recommend to anyone with a big family looking to visit Galveston
